December 2001 Nr. 2 - 17/12/01
Traditionally fruitful work is rather impossible during the second half of December. However, it would be kind, if those, who forgot to vote for the steering committee, would do it until dec 18th. Only 25% gave their voting up to the 15th. Wednesday, dec 19th, (although it should have been already done) the election mail box will be definitely closed.
[There have been for two days world-wide problems with the Yahoo address-book system. If you need the full address of the target mail box.
It is: boxespere@yahoo.com]
Please select 7 from the12 names in the list of candidates (click here to see the introduction).
The COPERNICUS society (http://www.copernicus.org) and ESPERE are planning together to apply for funding for a summer school, which will be slightly different from the normal ones. A proposal has to be written during January and will be organised in co-operation with the Copernicus secretary.
A plan for such a proposal is put on for discussion on the following page. If you have further suggestions or other ideas please contact Elmar Uherek (uherek@espere.net).
I am pleased to send best wishes to all of you for the last days of this year. Eid al-Fitr has already been celebrated. Christmas is very close and new year’s Eve is not far away. A major part of the Europeans will pay with the same money next year. Our small community will have a steering committee and new ideas and plans are in the air. May the idea grow and find more friends and also financial support in 2002.
Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it and all the best for the next year in work and in your private life!
Elmar Uherek
