Election of the steering committee

Nomination of further candidates for the ESPERE steering committee is possible until 01/11/01 12:00 MET. A list of the candidates nominated so far is published HERE.
The listed persons have already been asked if they are ready to candidate. A small introduction will be sent by every candidate until the election begins (20/12/2001).
All information concerning the election and the introduction of the candidates are published in the election section of the ESPERE news.
We thank Dr. Eva Oberländer for her readiness to work as secretary and company worker.

OPEN FORUM

During the Evora climate conference and the netdays Europe the ESPERE community is going to offer an open multilingual FORUM for the public. (15-23/11/2001).
First of all students but also the public are invited to ask questions about the climate system and climate change. The event is announced via the GLOBE listserver (international) and teachers online (Germany).
Many thanks to all who made possible a multilingual and quick announcement and who are going to answer to the questions during these days.

water project now in use

Since Monday the ESPERE water project is in use for teaching in our partner school. The teacher, Roland Bergmann, installed a virtual classroom with e-mail addresses for all pupil, forum, data-exchange areas etc. on www.lo-net.de. The pupils are invited to comment on the presented sites via this virtual classroom.

Hamburg report

Here the announced report from the round table in Hamburg. The report represents the personal impression of the author Elmar Uherek and will be sent to the participants of the round table, in order to make possible additional statements. Such statements can be published in the moderated Forum.

Presentation at Evora

Outlook: ozone project

A larger project is planned in co-operation with the department of didactics in chemistry of the University of Duisburg and Lehrer-Online. As soon as details are clear, you will be informed (likely in the next newsletter).
The goal is to explain the role of ozone both in stratospheric and tropospheric chemistry in three levels.
