NEWSLETTER

January 2002 Nr. 1 - 21/01/02

Dear members and supporters of the ESPERE community!

A happy, joyful and peaceful year 2002, luck in your private life and success in work for everybody of you. May you be able to fulfil at least some of your dreams.

We are glad to be able to announce that this newsletter will be the last one which is not yet signed in the name of the ESPERE steering committee. We are glad and grateful, that the idea of ESPERE found enough friends to survive one year and to grow, slowly but continously.

Thank you for the time you invested in ESPERE and the work you have done to contribute to this project. Thank you also for the confidence you had in our work during our administrative leadership, which is also expressed in the result of the election.

We hope that during this year we will be able to convince more people of the necessity of such an international network and also to convince financial backers to invest in this idea and last but not least to convince you that the work was and is worth to be done.

Michael Gauss & Elmar Uherek

Call RPA 2002

The call for propals of the 'Raising Public Awareness' Field within the Human Potential Programme of EU's Fifth Framework Programme launched Jan, 15th. We are currently going to form a new consortium. You will be informed about the frame in the next newsletter.

Summer School - Withdrawal

With the apologies of the COPERNICUS secretary we have to withdraw temporary the application for funding for a ESPERE summer school. Because of successful application in another project the capacity of Copernicus is bound.
And for the ESPERE community it is not possible to organise a second proposal this spring besides from the one which is planned within the 'Raising Public Awareness' Programme.
We will keep the idea in mind and will likely apply for funding of such a school later on.

The ESPERE Forum is enabled again. Since several decisions of common interested will be necessary in the future, the Forum can be used again to contribute to the Scientists' Forum.
